چکیده

The goal of mobile IP based architecture is to provide seamless mobility with minimized handoff latency, signaling overhead and tunneling cost. There are many research work proposed to support such seamless mobility. Most of the proposals suggest hierarchical arrangement of anchor agents to support minimized handoff latency and signaling cost. But these proposals provide only best-effort services to end users. For worldwide acceptance of the architecture, it must offer service guarantee to end users. Quality of service (QoS) provisioning is difficult but a task of high importance in communication networks. The Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP) has gained its popularity as a signaling protocol in IP based networks for offering guaranteed service to end users. Although RSVP was primarily designed as a receiver initiated protocol for wired networks, it is extended to wireless environment by making few minor changes and adding new message types and reservation models. In this paper, a framework is proposed by extending RSVP to three layer architecture for seamless mobility with preferential treatment to a certain type of traffic in an IPv6 based mobile network to satisfy end users QoS. Simulation results show that a three layer mobility model with RSVP can give better performance in terms of both average delay suffered by every packet and packet delivery ratio

Quality of Service (QoS) Provisioning Mechanisms in Fourth Generation (4G) Wireless All-IP Networks

This thesis presents the details of two reservation models created for improved resource allocation in wireless All-IP networks in order to meet the Quality of Service (QoS) requirements of real-time applications whilst maintaining resource utilisation at high levels. The two mechanisms are proposed as extensions to the Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP). The first was designed to exploit the...

An End-to-end Qos Provisioning Architecture in Mobile Network

Quality of Service (QoS) provisioning is one of critical issues in the wireless and mobile network. However, the existing works for QoS guarantee focused on only the wireless network characteristics. In this paper, we proposed an end-to-end QoS provisioning architecture in the diverse mobility situations. This architecture consists the Differentiated Service (DiffServ) model and Integrated Serv...

RSVP Standards Today and the Path Towards a Generic Messenger

The Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP) specified in RFC2205 has evolved from ST-II (RFC1819) to provide end-to-end QoS signaling services for application data streams. Hosts use RSVP to request a specific quality of service (QoS) reservation from the network for particular application flows. RSVP maintains and refreshes reservation states in routers for a requested QoS application flow. By or...

An Analysis of QoS Provisioning for High Definition Video Distribution in Heterogeneous Network

In this paper we propose a novel method of dynamic RSVP’s reservations, based on knowledge about the sending stream. The proposed solution is able to assure better link utilization than classis RSVP reservations and offer no worse QoS for HD video transmission than the typical RSVP reservations. Comparison and Handover Performance Evaluation of the Macro-mobility Protocol

Future internet works will include large numbers of portable devices moving among small, wireless cells. In order to support real-time applications, users demand seamless mobility and Quality-of-Service (QoS) provisioning. The handover technology is one of the most important technologies for the quality of real-time operation which guarantee the QoS of mobile Internet. Mobility management issue...
